Tigers Achieve First Divisional WinPosted Sunday, September 16, 2007 by Cohoes Football The Cohoes Tigers achieved their first conference win in two years on Saturday, by defeating the Hudson Blue Hawks 14-15 at Alumni Field. The Tigers scored first when defensive end Tommy Durrant tackled Hudson’s running back in the end zone for a safety. On Hudson’s next offensive drive defensive back Mark Gallerie blocked a punt giving Cohoes great field position for its final drive of the first half. Cohoes would drive 53 yards on seven plays culminating with a three yard scoring pass from quarterback Mike Welcome to fullback Sean Littlejohn, earlier in the drive the two hooked up for a 14 yard reception as well. The Tigers would start the second half with the ball looking to score on their first possession, and that is just what they did. Cohoes used a 14 play 68 yard drive to open the second half, tailback Steve Weaver would score from 3 yards out giving the Tigers a 15-0 lead. Cohoes defensive back Mark Gallerie would intercept a Hudson pass in the third quarter to stop the Blue Hawk offense. Hudson however would put together two quick scoring drives in the fourth quarter coming within one score of taking the lead in the game. Cohoes’ defense would stop the Blue Hawks on their next two possessions securing the 14-15 league victory over Hudson. Offensively Steve Weaver carried the ball 28 times for 128 yards and quarterback Mike Welcome completed 7 passes for 116 yards. The Tigers will travel to defending Section 2 Champion and State Finalist Albany Academy on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
